Dimethyl Ether Plant (DME) - Europoort
Produces: dimethyl ether. Dimethyl ether is supplied to customers by tanker truck and is processed, for instance, into propellent for spray cans in the cosmetics industry.

Process:
Dimethyl ether is produced by passing methanol in its gaseous phase over a dehydration catalyst (dehydration = water separation). Aluminum oxide with a high degree of purity is used as a catalyst.
