Process Engineer Membrane Electrolysis Plant (MEB) Igor van der Hel:""I could have fared much worse"
"I feel like a fish in the water here," says Igor van der Hel, Process Engineer at the Membrane Electrolysis Plant. Igor studied Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Delft and developed a strong interest in Chemical Process Engineering, which was the subject in which he completed his study.

"This is my first job and I think that I could have fared much worse. I landed here amidst the preparations for UB3, the biggest MEB expansion project since the plant's construction. As a Process Engineer it is your task to optimize the chorine and lye production processes in a technologically responsible, safe and profitable way. They certainly do expect a lot from you here. On the other hand, when you have an attractive proposition, they do not skimp and make the needed financial resources available. I already had the opportunity to set up and execute a sub-project: the level controls and safeguards in lye evaporation."

Igor has deliberately chosen for Akzo Nobel: 'It's a company where I can bring in practice everything I have learned and where one also has the opportunity to move on."
